Space will be available to display all posters for the duration of the congress. Poster summaries will be published in the Proceedings.

SUBMISSION

Abstracts are to be submitted by 31 December 2007 on the Abstract submission template and may contain no more than 250 words. The full 1200-word summary of the poster is to be submitted by 31 May 2008. The words “POSTER SUMMARY” must be inserted above the title. The poster summary may include one table or figure/photo but then with a maximum word count of 900.

PRESENTATION

Each poster submitted must be 600mm wide and 900mm in length.

In addition to good scientific content, three basic criteria are required for an effective display: it must be attractive, well organised and self-explanatory. Authors are free to use their creativity to produce attractive posters.

The title and author’s name should be displayed at the top of the poster in a single row with letters 9-10 cm high. A small photograph of the author can be included to assist the audience in contacting the author.

The different written sections should preferably be no more than 10 lines each. They should use bold lettering 1 – 1.5 cm high, so as to be easily readable from a distance of 2m. Use of capital letters only is discouraged. The flow pattern should be indicated clearly by arrows or numbers.

Each figure, photograph or table should have a clear caption and be at least 20 by 28 cm. Avoid overloading figures and tables with information and use colour to make them clearer.

Authors will be expected to set up their own posters at the start of the conference. If they cannot be present at the conference they may designate someone to act on their behalf.

The programme will include time for special poster sessions during which authors or their representatives are expected to be in attendance at their poster and to briefly present their poster to the gathered audience.

Commercial or other forms of promotion (e.g. organisational promotion) is not permitted (exhibition stands are available for this). Poster contents must be of an academic / educational nature.
cceam Tue, 13 Nov 2007 10:13:44 +0200 Admin 33 at https://www.emasa.co.za Guidelines For Full Paper Presentations https://www.emasa.co.za/node/32
MANUSCRIPTS

When papers are first submitted, they should be sent via email as an attached file in MS Word or .rtf format. Should a computer disc (CD only) be used, a hard copy must accompany the disc.

Scripts should be in English in third person format, in A4 page format and using Times New Roman, font size 12. 1.5 spacing must be used with a 25mm margin all round. Pages are to be numbered consecutively at the centre bottom of the page.

The author is responsible for making all changes and additions suggested by the referees/editors or alternatively responding to the comments in writing. The final copy must then be returned to the CCEAM 2008 Scientific Committee (together with a computer disc, where necessary). The disc should be marked with the author’s name and full contact details and the computer programme used to construct the figures.

LENGTH

Papers should be a maximum length of 3000 words.

LAYOUT & HEADINGS

The sequence of items in the script should be:

Title: This must be short and concise (no longer than 10 words), followed by the authors’ names, institutional affiliations and addresses (including email address).

Abstract: This should consist of a maximum of 250 words and should capture the important features of the paper.

Keywords: 6 Keywords are required. The role of Educational Leadership, Management and Administration in understanding, shaping and re-shaping education for economic and social progress in this global village cannot be over-emphasised. Thus the conference theme invites African and other perspectives of global and local leadership. This is the main thrust of the upcoming CCEAM 2008 conference in Durban, South Africa. The Conference theme is: “Think Globally, Act Locally”. A very timely theme and very appropriate for the multitudes of our membership around the Commonwealth and the globe. Plans for an interesting, informative and integrated CCEAM conference in 2008 are well underway and our friends from EMASA, the affiliate which is organizing this conference are hard at work.

Indeed, the more we become a truly international organization, the more we have to rethink and reframe our most cherished notions of school leadership, management and administration. Durban is already shaping up to be a great host-city for our conference and for those of us who think that we live on the top of the world we are getting ready to go “down under”. However, a friend from South Africa told me once, “how are things down there for you in Europe?” That is when I realized that “down under” or “up there” are very relative clauses and it really depends on where you stand in order to have a certain point of you. The same goes for our theme: what is global may become local and what is local may become global.

We expect a large number of members from around the Commonwealth and from many more countries from around the world to be present at this wonderful event. See you all there!!!

Professor Petros Pashiardis

CCEAM President

cceam Wed, 06 Jun 2007 12:09:47 +0200 Admin 11 at https://www.emasa.co.za Conference Tours https://www.emasa.co.za/node/10
Conference tours have been arranged as part of the conference programme, and will take place on Friday 12 September 2008 from 08h00.
